Abia Warriors’s Chikarata Joins Wydad Casablanca

Nigeria international and Abia Warriors forward, Chisom Chikatara, has finally linked up with Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco.
Chikatara landed in Casablanca to the warm embrace of Wydad officials Sunday morning after flying Air Maroc on Saturday evening.
This development thus ended weeks of speculation over the 2016 African Nations Championship top scorer’s future following disagreement between the selling and buying clubs.
Igwe Onuoha, spokesman of Abia Warriors, said that Chikatara has finally joined Athletico Wydad while chairman of the club, Emeka Inyama, confirmed the forward’s departure, stressing that the two parties have amicably resolved earlier contractual differences that had kept the deal on hold.
“I can confirm that Chikatara has finally rejoined Wydad,” Inyama said.
“All issues surrounding the deal have been resolved,” he added when asked if the Moroccan club have paid the contract fee that has been the bone of contention.
“We have settled every difference and we also took the player’s career into consideration.”
It was gathered that Abia Warriors considered the player’s poor performances in recent games which they attributed to an unsettled mind over the Wydad deal in releasing him.
Chikatara scored only once in his last nine games for Abia Warriors.
